HP Easy Scan App Reviews

Read other review about HP Easy Scan not working on El Capitan. It worked fine with my Laser Jet Pro MFP M127fw printer using El Capitan OS on MacBook Pro. Very simple. Worked on first try. No fiddle-fadding. 1-2-3-done. I’m thrilled.

I used the “scan to computer” option daily. This no longer works. PLEASE stop updating my printer over the internet. First you killed third party inks, now the scanning is broken? People are blaming El Capitan but I successfully scanned to my computer *after installing El Capitan* so it must be your product and software. Shame on you for selling a product that constantly needs upkeep. I will end up tossing this in the trash and buying a product that works. Thanks for wasting my money HP!

Like many others, I had a problem saving scans with the “HP Scan” program after upgrading to El Capitan. This update (1.4.0)….or actually this replacement app, fixed the issue. I would have given it 5 stars, except that HP communication was somewhat lackluster that this was the fix.

Hi, i am also no longer able to scan from my desktop afyter upgrading to El Capitan. i have uninstalled the scanner software as well as printer drivers, but no luck - will a fix be available soon?

This version has not repaired the issue with feeding more than 1 page in the document feeder. Feeding a single page completes but the application does not leave the ‘preparing to scan’ prompt.

I, too, experieced the same issue of not being able to scan after updating to El Capitan. I went to the HP website to download the fix. I was able to scan but not save the document. It just shut down the program. I deleted the entire HP software and did a full install including the update…no go. I read the reviews on the HP Easy Scan stating that this app did not help, but I was in such deperate need to scan some business documents that I gave it a try. IT WORKED!!!!!

After updating to El Capitan, I could not save scanned images from my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus to a folder using HP Scan. Went on HP Support Forum and read I should go into my Hewlett-Packard folder and move HP Scan to Trash. Installed HP Easy Scan and was up and running in two minutes.

The last printer update (3.1) pushed by the App Store broken the already flaky scanning behavior of my HP multi-function. After a wasted night of faffing around reinstalling the network, resetting the printer, and reconfiguring the network, I gave and downloaded this app. The good news for me is that it works at all. The bad news is that it only works with the document feeder. Scanning a driving license or somesuch is a no go. Hopefully a new driver will appear that will allow me to switch back to using Preview to scan, as this app is clunky even without the feeder shortcomings. If/when that day arrives, I’ll be deleting this app.

I too was having the issue with scanning from my HP All in One printer using El Capitan. Downloaded this and was able to connect and start scanning right away. I actually found i like this software better then any other software i was using. The other way i was doing this was time consuming. I had to edit and recrop all the images i was scanning. This application automatically crops the images you scan. Making it significantly shorter compared to other software and printers… Really nice (Also note if youre having issues try using USB, my HP Photosmart Premuim All in One C410A uses WPA to connect to the internet. With a new router this printer became completely outdated as it could not use Wifi anymore. So maybe USB will work better for you as well. Works great for me.)

After spending 2 hours with HP Tech tonight and being VERY FRUSTRATED! I downloaded this app just trying to get something that would work. It does and very well. I’m impressed. It scanned from both the document feeder and from the glass. This may save my sanity, still don’t really like the HP 8630 pro but atleast the sanner works again!

I’ve been using HP Scan 3 from 2011 with my Deskjet 3050 All-in-One, but it stopped working with the upgrade to El Capitan (OS X 10.11). Searching HP Support I was directed to the Apple App Store where I found HP Easy Scan. It is an upgraded version of HP Scan 3 that works with El Capitan. HP Easy Scan is much faster and easier to use than it’s predecessor and it has more features.

I have successfully been using HP Scan for several months, but decided to try HP Easy Scan to see if user interface was an improvement over HP Scan. HP Easy Scan works as described although I did not find the user interface was any improvement over HP Scan. Now the downside. After using HP Easy Scan, when I tried to use HP Scan again, I found the capability of HP Scan much diminished. For example, I could no longer scan resolutions above 300 dpi; and the capability of HP Scan to locate item bounds during scanning no longer worked. So HP Easy Scan apparently overwrites all of the presets used by HP Scan. To fix, I had to uninstall all print drivers and HP software and then reinstall.

since apple updates os x to yosemite, the scan software from hp did not work anymore. i hope hp easy scan will work but seems not work with lan scanners. hey, hp, i need a software that supports your lan products, lan scans.

Similar to PandaGeneral21, I was unable to use HP Scan since downloading El Capitan, downloaded this app, was pleasantly surprised to see that the layout was virtually identical and more importantly, it worked! Very pleased indeed! Admittedly, I have not used it extensively yet so this could just be a “pink-cloud” review but for now, I could not be happier :)

I could never figure out the complicated softare that came with my HP printer five years ago. This software worked instanstly, no compatibility issues. Love the simplicity of it, it just works. Thanks!

With Mac OS 10.11.1 the Scanjet G4010 is not recognized. It shows up in System Preferences (Printers & Scanners) but is not recognized by Easy Scan or, Image Capture. HP has yet to release a driver update for this scanner.

I have an Officejet 7500A wide format. No matter what I try it will not work correctly. I beleive after this not working with my MAC pro, I will never purchase an HP peinter again.

An absolute disaster. The program cannot recognize the actual size of objects to be scanned, and the user cannot specify size of area to be scanned or crop full-page scans to correspond to the actual size one wants scanned. In order to make it “Easy” HP has decided to make it “Useless."

So why am i no longer able to scan from the device to my macbook pro??? Had no issues prior to El Capitan. Please fix this soon.

This software will still not allow the scanner to run. It continues to give an error message about a connection and they are fine. It worked well until my upgrade last fall to El Capitan…and now it makes this scanner worthless. Contacted HP for a solution and they indicated that the problem was noted by others but had no plans as to when it would be resolved. Not happy at all with tech support…they closed my case unresolved!
